First pour
The doors slide open, the water starts running down the long stone table, and the first espresso goes to whoever beat the sunrise crowd. Usually a diver. Sometimes a jet-lagged family. Always someone happy.

Voted #1 Café in Ao Nang · 4.7★ from 1031 guests
Sourdough sandwiches, avocado toasts, pancakes, big breakfast plates and proper coffee — plus a full Thai kitchen for lunch. Served all day, every day, a 5-minute walk from Nopparat Thara Beach.
What to order first
Eight plates and glasses that built our reputation — beginning with the toast that outsells everything else on the menu.

฿199
The one. Our best-selling plate — sourdough, avocado, scrambled eggs, sun-dried tomato, bacon.

฿279
The full sit-down morning: eggs, bacon, sausage, sourdough and a drink. Nobody has ever left this plate hungry.

฿279
Local artisan sourdough, pressed on the grill until the cheese gives in. Lunch that tastes like someone made an effort.

฿189
“By far the best pancakes I’ve had in a long time,” said a guest on Tripadvisor — and these are the ones with blueberries all the way through.

฿239
Açaí, mixed berries, banana, yogurt — blended thick, topped generously, gone quickly.

฿99
Our most-ordered coffee: espresso, milk, caramel — and actual popcorn on top. There’s a reason it’s called that.

฿159
The dish our reviews mention most. Ripe mango, coconut sticky rice, a pinch of salt to keep it honest.

฿149
The golden sweets we’re named after, with ice cream. Most visitors never get to try these. You will.

The vibe
A long stone table with a current running through it, fish doing laps beneath your coffee, and the bay five minutes away. Every hour here has its own personality — these are the three we'd pick.

8:00
The doors slide open, the water starts running down the long stone table, and the first espresso goes to whoever beat the sunrise crowd. Usually a diver. Sometimes a jet-lagged family. Always someone happy.

11:00
Brunch hour. Sourdough from our baker, eggs still steaming, smoothie bowls the colour of the sea outside. The fish in the pond do laps. Nobody is in a hurry, including us.

16:30
The sun drops toward Nopparat Thara and the whole cafe turns the colour of thongyod. This is when we take our own break — mango sticky rice, one last coffee, the best light of the day.

Our name
Thongyib means "picked gold". Thongyod means "a drop of gold" — the lucky sweets Thai families serve when something good is beginning. We're twin sisters from Thailand's northeast who opened this cafe in 2020, the hardest year to start anything, and named it after the luckiest sweets we know. It worked.
